The Scottish Football Partnership who have both the Scottish Football Association and Sports Scotland as shareholders contacted us with a view to carrying out the joiner and blacksmith work involved in the construction and installation of prototype solar powered changing facilities and floodlights to be installed at Blairgowrie for children’s football and training.

This involved 3 No nearly new containers delivered to our yard and workshops. New side doors openings were cut out and metal security doors installed. The existing double doors were sealed permanently. Steel pelmets with supports were welded to the top of the containers to prevent vandals damaging the photo electric cells located on the roof.We fitted metal stud framework to floors, walls and ceilings and these were packed off surfaces with insulation to prevent condensation. The floors, walls and ceiling were heavily insulated with Kingspan. Toilet and storage partitions were formed with metal stud. Wall and ceiling cladding was carried out with Kronaspan pre-finished MFC and plastic cover strips. This eliminated painting and provided wash down surfaces. The floor was constructed with tongued and grooved plywood and finished with Altro Aquarius safety vinyl and coved skirting.

The plumbing, electrical and photo electric cell technology were designed and installed by SMS Maintenance Services at our workshops.

The result is the provision of totally self-sustainable in terms of power provided by solar roof panels to a community football club that were struggling to provide changing facilities due to the remote location and proximity of services.
